We are Amy Dienes, photographer and registered nurse, and Louis Dienes,
photographer and poet. We are both Aesthetic Realism Associates. Welcome
to our Web site!
As individuals we had the privilege of studying the philosophy of Aesthetic
Realism with its founder, Eli Siegel, and are grateful to continue our
education in classes taught by Ellen Reiss, the Class Chairman of Aesthetic
Realism. We have come to see Aesthetic Realism as true, comprehensively
and essentially, about our own lives, the lives of people everywhere, and
the arts we love: photography and poetry.
“All beauty is a making one of opposites,” Mr. Siegel wrote, “and the making
one of opposites is what we are going after in ourselves.” We'll be showing
you some of the ways this mighty principle, which is the very basis of
this kind and exact philosophy, is true about beauty in art, and about
what a person is going for in life.
You will see, along with selections of our photographic work, class reports
we have written of important Aesthetic Realism lectures--and given at public
presentations. You'll also see talks on works of art that we have given
in the series “The Aesthetic Realism of Eli Siegel Shows
How Art Answers the Questions of Your Life.” presented at the Aesthetic Realism Foundation
in New York City.
Again, welcome! |
